To present his new single, Canal, the Montreal artist Anomalie, aka virtuoso keyboardist and producer Nicolas Dupuis, found the perfect spot. In the cosy Fairmount Theatre, he headlined the night after two great bands, a DJ set from DJ Magnanimous (Artbeat Montréal) and a spectacular show from the duo The Kount x Falcxne. Let’s get jazzy!
Why do we like the Fairmount? ‘Cause we can grab a beer, listening to a great song while we’re waiting for the headliner. That’s how the night began, and Artbeat Montréal, represented by magnanimous DJ did a great job.
The jazzy mixtape and the shy DJ were erased from the scene by the duo The Kount x Falcxne. What a collaboration between those two boys! An impressive performance, full of energy, injecting life into the crowd. We begin to see people grabbing each other to dance and move. When the gig reached its finale, we were all ready to welcome the headliner, Anomalie.
Anomalie’s popularity has been bolstered by live performance videos on social media his virtuoso keyboard skills showcasing the performance of his own tracks. The live performances have built an organic Instagram following of 70k+ followers, which include Lido, Charlie Puth, Big Wild, Gramatik, Collie Buds, Mateus Asato, Plini, Polyphia, GoldFish, and more.
It’s always a good thing to see that Montrealers love their local artists and Anomalie seems to be more than happy to play in front of his hometown fans. The Fairmount was close to capacity and the people who were there seemed to be true fans. With only one album to his name, Métropole released in 2017, he’s already a great live performer.
Smiley and engaging with his fans, the singer had the whole room engaged, even if he left some solo parts to his collaborators, we all felt that the entire band was conducted by Dupuis himself.
Anomalie still sound jazzy and follow this electronic wave where the sunlight seems to shine on each song. Tonight, Montreal felt a little wave of Anomalie’s love.
