Read up on the history of the charity.
Anne-Marie Bryson suffered a tragic loss, at the age of 7. She lost all her hair, a condition known as Alopecia Areata.
At the age of 20, her mother took her to France to visit Notre-Dames-de-Lourdes in an attempt to heal her. She just went for the fun trip.
For some reason, Anne-Marie could not shake the feeling that she needed to go to Haïti. In January 2010, a devastating earthquake hit Haïti.
Stranded in Montreal was a nun, who took care of about a dozen orphans.
Even though Anne-Marie worked for Air Transat, all flights where grounded, but she persisted and found her a seat on an humanitarian flight.
After that act of mercy, her hair started growing again.
Because of the earthquake, that informal orphanage went from 12 to 92. The facilities were delapidated and didn’t even included bathrooms.
Anne-Marie wanted to see this place with her own eyes, so she went, had her heart touched, and has been helping in some capacity ever since.
When she found out that the orphanage was called Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes…she saw that as a sign.
Not only did she regain her hair, but she gained a sense of satisfaction as she now sees this project turn into a small village with schools, 3-meals a day and even a bakery.
It just goes to show that when you help out others…good things will happen to you as well.
