The root of the word empowerment means into + power.

Why have women been out of power?

Generations upon generations perpetuated the notion that women were the lesser of the sexes.

Their voices were muted, their influence crushed and their access to resources limited.

Life, like Vegas means that for the men, as the house, they always wins in the end.  The odds are stacked against women.

It seems the rules are changing…finally.

I’m most definitely a man, so I can’t even imagine what it feels like to be cheated in that way.

One thing I know for sure:  My wife is way more powerful than I am.  Why?  She carried life in her womb for 9 months with increasing discomfort till the crescendo of the intense pain of childbirth.  She did this twice, without drugs.

I have man colds.  I rest my case.

Yeah, women have power, but they need to come into their power and be respected, heard and valued.

Kandle follows in the footsteps of Billie Holiday & Shirley Bassey and becomes a powerful force behind the mic.

It’s not only the power of that voice, but the message within topics she chooses to expose.

Abusers count on fear and shame to keep their grasp on their victims.  The emotional scars and wounds can last a lifetime, but as we have seen with #metoo and more recently #challengeaccepted that women are finding their voice, their inner beauty and support.

Kandle takes the topics that can make us cringe; broken love stories, depression, sexual abuse and chronic illness, but wraps it up in such a beautiful package, that you can’t help but enjoy the message and respect it.

The vibe of this EP is Motown from the future.  Kandle somehow lets us time travel in both the past and future, dancing our way in between.

We are invited, on her new EP to STICK AROUND & FIND OUT.

Stream or Buy from here.

While we can’t avoid past trauma, and we certainly don’t excuse those who perpetuate it, when we open up about it, we can reframe it and see how it happened FOR us rather than TO us. We also take away it’s power, which frees us of that weight. It’s the beginning of healing and rising up.

Listen to the album and find one thing you wish to unburden yourself with. Release it with #kandlepower and let us know how your journey goes. When music can trigger such growth, you will be glad you stuck around and found out.
