Montreal jazz septet The Liquor Store will release their second album Colossus on October 1st, 2021.
The band’s story began back in 2011 when five music students got together and began sharing their love and passion for jazz. In 2014, two additional members joined them to create The Liquor Store. Since then, the band has hit the road to play numerous festivals and tours across Canada.
The band says Colossus is a conceptual suite of instrumentals designed to entrance with its ever-evolving colour palette of emotions; relentless, cathartic and deeply reflective.
Created entirely during the pandemic, recorded and produced in a dozen different places, Colossus promises to be the most spiritual and conceptual work the band has done so far. With no lyrics, no clear message, the album’s 7 rhythmic and dynamic tracks aim to charm audiences with a mix of skillful jazz and funk with sci-fi and retro colours.
