Montreal’s Sheenah Ko wins 2020 UK Music Video Awards over Beyonce!

There was a glimmer in Sheenah’s eye, as she stirred her Latte and spoke about the making of Wrap Me Up.

I had watched it ahead of its release and our interview and I told her how my jaw dropped upon watching it what is essentially a short film.

To beat out Beyonce for Best Choreography in a Video at the UK Music Video Awards is a big deal for this Montreal based performer.

Her secret sauce ingredients are Brittney Canda, who will do a 1 person Flash Mob when Sheenah Ko performs live, along with her other partner in crime behind the camera Vincent René-Loitier of Telescope Films.

100 dancers applied, but only 12 made the cut, who seem to get activated by some sort of healing power from Sheenah during the video.

Canda had to choreograph a diverse group of dancers with styles like ballet, hip-hop and circus, including Roya the Destroya, a one-legged performer from Australia.

Canda has since worked with Celine Dion (the artist I was not able to mention in the interview)!

You can catch the awards here.

Congrats to Sheenah Ko, Brittney Canda, Vincent René-Loitier and their merry band of dancers for making a mark with this work of art.
