After taking a few months off, Montreal’s Dead Obies are back with Run Away, the first single off their upcoming third studio album, DEAD., to be released on February 15th, 2019 via Bonsound.
The band say “Run Away is a return to our initial instincts with a more solemn perspective in the lyrics that reflects our current state of mind”.
On the new track, producer VNCE CARTER’s arrangements compliment the live instrumentations recorded by Jean-Michel Frédéric (keys) and Mark Alan Haynes (bass).
Run Away is accompanied by a video, directed by Romain F. Dubois, which follows a teenager who refuses to return home. Watch below.
A 13-date tour kicks off on February 28th, 2019 in Chicoutimi, and culminates in Montreal on April 26th at MTELUS. See dates below or on deadobies.com.
Dead Obies’ upcoming album follows the Polaris Long-Listed Gesamtkunstwerk (2016). They went on to perform a string of sold-out gigs across Quebec and tour Europe. Before ending their tour at MTELUS, Dead Obies opened for Kendrick Lamar on the Plains of Abraham (Festival d’été de Québec) and for French rapper Georgio at the Olympia de Paris, as well as performing in the opening concert of the 2016 Francos de Montréal.
